Budget-Smart Kitchen Facelift in Rancho Bernardo
The homeowner had a set budget. We built the scope around it so he could get a full kitchen transformation, with new white shaker cabinets, granite countertops and a subway tile backsplash, without paying for work he didn't need.

What We Did
- Protected the floors, then removed and hauled away the old dark cabinets, tile countertops and backsplash, including the hanging cabinet over the peninsula, which opened up the kitchen.
- Planned the cabinet layout and order, then assembled and installed new white shaker cabinets, with full-height pantry cabinets and open corner shelves.
- Fabricated and installed new granite countertops, including the peninsula.
- Installed a 3x6 white subway tile backsplash.
- Installed a matching vanity, plumbing and mirror in the bathroom, using a cabinet from the same order.
Working to a Budget
We built the scope around the number
Instead of starting with a wish list and cutting it down, we started with the homeowner’s budget and put the money where it would show. We designed the new cabinet layout to fit the existing footprint, so the floor tile could stay and there was no new flooring to buy. The homeowner supplied the backsplash tile, and we passed our cabinet discount on to him.
The project also needed an extensive electrical build-out. To save on cost, the homeowner hired our electrical partner directly, and we coordinated the schedule so the electrical and the kitchen install stayed on track together.
